post challenge: somewhat disappointed with the score on this one.

for Rachel53 - the title is sort of a play on words. I used the spelling "pain" to indicate the frustration of the dog and the condition of the glass.

for atitedesco - there are six window panes.

alt title: the glass is always cleaner on the other side.

Saw this in the violin thread and opened it up. I thought to myself "Dang that is a cool shot, I should fave that." My next thought was "Doh!". ;)

I love this. The composition and lighting are marvelous. I like the way the faces of the animals are in shadow... somehow it gives a sort of musing ambiguity to the photo. Yet the twinkle from the dog's eye saves it from being too ambiguous, and thus uninteresting. An AWESOME photo.

Some day I'm going to imitate this! :-) I've actually tried a similar shot a few times (hadn't seen this photo before) as we have two cats that love to tease the dogs at the french patio doors & various windows.

This is a really fun photo. It's kind of like grunge, but natural. Great control of lighting and very nice detail.

I like this image. Do you have a bullmastiff behind that window?

I'm shocked this didn't make 6, one of my tops picks. Oh well, you still got a great pic!

My favorite part about this photo is the senitiment behind it. It's also funny with the poor dog looking in and the silhouetted cat looking out. Nice use of light and shadow here.

My favorite so far. Love the messed up panes! Classic "heh - I'm in here where it's warm and you are not!" versus "lemmeinlemmeinlemmein!"

Nice shooting; the cat/dog opposition is always amusing, and always seems to have something to say about the instinct v intellect opposition.

Fantastic shot - so creative and different - and fun to look at. Back to bump you up to a rare 10 from me. Great job!

I know that's a cat but I can only suppose that's a dog on the outside of the window?

Good one. I love the frost on the windows and the b&w tone, giving the image the feel of an etching. The more I look at it, the more I like it -- especially little things like the highlights on the cat, without which this wouldn't quite work. 10
