Im sure he has a lot to be happy about, at least he don't have to shave for any reasons, or shower for that matter.

A definite character. I find I get extremley distracted by the background and loose sight of the subject. I would have liked a much tigher crop with a soft background and drawn all the attention to his face. Also the direct flash takes away some of the texture. A difusser or bounce would have given it him more natural colours. Good Luck. 4.

Although it is kindoff sad seeing people wearing so torn cloths and obviously poor - this picture is very nice and he really looks happy here :o)

I love the unprocessed sense of this: whether or no you have spent hours, days, months on it, it doesn't show which is, in the rush of HDR nonsense, an great pleasure in itself. Fine photograph - I like very much.

Your best of 2005 shot of this man was fantastic as well (boy I hope this is the same person) I know I've seen him before and he still looks happy.

I think I recognize both the style and the region. Exotic (to me) colours. 9.

Happy? Well then, this is certainly a social statement. He's wearing a coat made out of some kind of sack. The way the light on his face is repeated in the house in the background is a wonderful link between the two. All the buildings lean in towards that welcoming light. Even the clouds (and their matching cobblestones) are pointing the way. That must be where he lives, maybe he's happy to be going home for supper? One could construct all sorts of stories about this guy from the visual clues you give us. Does he grow coffee? is that a coffee tree branch in the left corner? There is a logo on his hat, is that a clue? Maybe that isn't a bean sack but a fishing net he wears. Wonderful face! He's just asking me to come home with him and listen to his story.
