A closer look at the wonderful staghorn I found by the pool, here on the Sunshine Coast where I live. The shape, form color textures and detail is just amazing. The golden brown on the underleaf is the spore of the plant and just looks like velvet..... Enjoy.

A metre (3ft) wide and a metre and half (4 to 5ft) long at least.....

It is growing on the trunk of a palm tree which has its fronds all cut off. The staghorn is nearly as big as the palm, and wraps around two thirds of the palm trunk.

Beautiful. And why didn't you put this into free study, or best of? One of your best shots yet. Great texture and pattern.

The leaves form a very pretty (and delicate) diagonal. And the texture just really pops, even tho I'm sure it is very delicate.

The detail and DOF in this shot is just beautiful. I have a couple of these hanging in wire baskets in my yard, but they are not quite that big. I have never seen one growing on the ground here. I think because bugs would eat them.
