Yes there is a perceived tilt to the supposed horizon line, but this out in nature, and there is no one horizon line! The middle ground left is sloped to the right, scooped out in the center and rises to the right side. The far hill is lumpy, the medium hill and trees are even lumpier, but most of all the tree trunks we can discern are vertical. Tilting the "horizon" level would have slanted them. That would be much more of a visual problem. This particular piece of landscape provides us a level of abstraction to demonstrate HD.

Well, the tilt got you the comments (as did the colours). All publicity is good, as is said in Hollywood.

Gorgeous scene - love the sunset/sunrise colors and the dead log up front adds the perfect little bit of interest. Maybe it is just me, but horizon seems slightly tilted to the right?

Beautiful colors, but the horizon is not horizontal.

I like the warmth, and I like the calmness of the water. The lighting on the trees on the right looks a bit out of place, though, and I hope you have a tilted horizon like that on purpose. :)

Be nice if the picture was leveled

01/18/2008 10:23:19 PM
This would work better if you leveled the tree line on the far horizon.

The metallic foil-like sheen is rather spectacular. The DOF is rather nice too. 7

the tilted horizon takes away lots from the calm scene. could be a tad sharper, too

Great colors, but for my tastes, a level horizon on this shot would be preferred. Excellent capture!

Love the shot, gorgeous colours, great reflection but the tilt really hurts it and loses you a couple of marks.

01/14/2008 01:37:52 PM
Your horizon is running up hill to the left?
  Photographer found comment helpful.
01/14/2008 12:38:45 PM
this shot has great substance, I like the composition an the warm colours, but the crooked horizon really doesnt give the rest of the picture credit!Your postprocessing is also quite visible, mostly on the woods that seem too bright and flat in comparison to the rest of the picture.. also the halo around the the backend of the woods make the postprocessing way to obvious...but overall a really nice entry :-)

Your photo isn't aligned perfectly. Great shot, but could've used a rotate 2 or 3 degrees CCW.

Nice picture.
Does it need to be rotated a bit to make the horizon line level ?

01/14/2008 10:55:48 AM
I like the photo, but it appears to be tilted. I would have liked it better if it was straight.

This would have been wonderful if only it was straight. Great coloring.

01/14/2008 09:23:06 AM
Seems like it should have been rotated a few degrees counter-clockwise to level out the horizon.

It's not straight !
