Challenge: Time Lapse (Advanced Editing VI ("Time Lapse")*)
Camera: Canon EOS-1D Mark III
Lens: Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM
Location: Humber Bridge, UK
Date: Jan 6, 2008
Aperture: various
ISO: 100
Shutter: various
Date Uploaded: Jan 6, 2008

Humber Bridge, 2hrs pre dawn to just after dawn.
Stacked and striped to get a small section of each image.
Obviously the sequence goes from right to left.

OK so some commenters have asked for a 'how to' guide:

There are about 8 staked images here, each taken about 15mins apart from a static tripod. I arrived well before dawn and stayed until just after sun up, and shot every few minutes. I bracketed each image so ended up with about 200 images to choose from.

Having selected the 8 or so images I wanted to use I opened each image as a smart object in PS3. In effect I had 8 seperate images stacked one on top of the other.

The next stage was to turn off the view of all but the bottom two images and then to add a layer mask to the second image. Using a soft brush paint in black on the layer mask to reveal the lower image.

Next copy the layer mask up onto the third layer and broaden the masked area to reveal another slice of the lower two images.

Repeat for each layer

Once all layers have been masked down then its simply a case of using curves to smooth the colour transitions

I get the feeling this will do well since it doesn't hold hands with the viewer - it waxes trippy.

Lovely deep tones. Well composed. Day turning to night (I figured it out in the end :-)). I was getting a little concerned that I could find the subject in 3-5 different positions and I'm so glad I couldn't, nice to see something unique.

Beautiful image! Love the colors here. I think that the title would go with the image better if you flip the photo horizontally.

Neat transition from day to night. Maybe the split could have been right down the middle to make it more obvious but still it's neat looking.

I like it, but may have moved the transition over to the center more, the dark side seem to be winning. :)

Hmmm, seems more like long exposure rather than multiple (time lapse) exposures. Maybe some confusion as to intent of the theme?
