Challenge: Ice II (Basic Editing)
Collection: Portfolio
Camera: Nikon D2X
Lens: Nikon AF Micro-Nikkor 60mm f2.8D
Location: My kitchen
Date: Dec 28, 2007
Aperture: f16
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/125 s
Galleries: Macro, Water
Date Uploaded: Jan 1, 2008

I froze some water in a beaker to get a clump of ice this time. The patterns in the ice were much more interesting than in the ice cubes I had. For flash I used the SB 800 with the orange filter that comes with it.
I really like the way this turned out. Hope the voters do too.

Yes! I love the way it turned out too. What it is it sitting on? The reflection is so pretty! Beautiful and mirror like, but it doesn't really like a mirror. Excellent as always Irene!

Irene - What a great image! Like I said during voting - this one has so much going on in such a small space - it is fantastic.

I am so completely honored to be sitting one space above you in voting with my macro shot. Your macros are probably my favorites on the entire site and to be in your company with a macro is such a gas!

It's really sharp and the colors are great, but the crop leaves the composition boring.

I'm a sucker for these Ice on mirror shots! The back lighting on the ice really helps too. Nice one.

Yes--this one really does capture for me that peculiar quality of ice--it's combination of clarity and blurriness. Nicely abstracted.

Stunning image. I love the colors in this image, and the contrast between the smooth texture of the water and the rigidity of the ice.
