I saw this guy at the Detroit Institute of Arts. His face was about 2 inches from the painting. I only had time to get this quick shot in before he turned around.

A 5.6?? This is terrific! Hammered by the purists. :/

In my taste this is too close to digital art, the heavy processing makes the subject look like he is cartoon character.

Nice one. 7. Composition and color are very nice.

I really like the mood of this frame. One of the things, is you can't be too sure of the emotion, are they observing the painting or having a breakdown. A bit to the imagination, but I think that is what makes it good!

i gave this a 5 just cause it really didn't do it for me--what can i say?

I gave this a 4. I do not like hdr and tone mapping, this is way over processed for my tastes. Also did not like the shadows behind his legs

Terry

I really like this one - very cool. The reasons I like it are that I can almost see the man being 'hugged' by the woman (maybe his mom or some other relative) in the painting. The starkness of the edit adds a lot of melancholy to the shot. The thick black border creates the illusion of it being a painting within a painting - a nice touch. I gave it a 7 during voting and probably should have gone higher.

I really liked this shot Terry. It has a great are museum feel to it, and the heavy processing works well with the subject matter. I'm surprised this didn't score higher, but for some reason a Free Study challenge never seems to reward shots like this.

I think you could have turned some of the 5s to 6s if there had been a perspective and barrel distortion adjustment done to the picture. The noise doesn't seem to have been to much of a distraction. The only part I don't like is the hardness of the noise under the frame and between his legs. It's different than the softer noise all around. Because it's different, my eyes are drawn to it. Hope you try the perspective adjustment.

Terry, I think you got robbed. This shot is fantastic. I love what you did with the processing. The shadows on the legs have a very interesting look.

I was pleased to see how high this actually placed. This is one of those kind of voyeuristic shots that I love so much. Well done!

This reminds me of a shot that Goodman did. I voted it significantly higher than the average and really rather enjoyed it! I'd offer why it scored under 6 but really it doesn't matter. I think the processing works just fine and I think it's a very good shot.

I like this image. But I fear it will not be appreciated by the masses.

Interesting idea, but too noisy and over processed, particularly on the model's legs.

Great thought and shot and the processing works, too.

I this would work better without the excessive post-processing.
