Peter, I think you know what you're doing. For my tastes, though, I'd prefer to have the statue brighter and the background dimmer. She has interesting textures as well as that "tear" on her cheek, but my attention is drawn to the hot circles in the upper right. This is where I'd use soft light layers to reverse the relative brightness. Even if you like it as is, I suggest playing with that editing technique just to have available to you later.

Is it really meant to be a statue of the Little Match Girl?

Nice colors and light! I love the metallic feel of the whole image, including the bokeh.

Great capture - especially with the spot of light on her tear drop. The orange-red glow is perfect for this story!

The reflected light on the statue with the bokeh behind makes this nicely three-dimensional, "real", for me. That, and I really like the pinks/oranges/grays - always a good color combo in my book.

Nice bokeh and reflections. The texture of the statue and the colors work well together.

Lovely texture and reflections. With the firey bokeh effects this all looks very Terminator 2. Lovely composition, the title doesn't mean anything to me but I'll take you word on that. The only thing that is a bit of a shame is apart from the aforementioned firey bokeh in the top right corner which is great, the rest of the background is similarly coloured and of the same illumination as the figure and so the figure would have had more impact had the background been more discreet.

Great use of lighting on this shot and also great use of the background to enhance rather than take away from the shot.

I have seen a bunch of match girls. I am surprised I don't know the story. hmmm oh well. I like the light, because it looks like its from a flame which seems like something matchgirl would have done I suppose, LOL. I like the shallow DoF too makes her stick out. 7

Statue shots just dont do much for me. This image just has an odd feel to it. Not my cup of tea.
