hm.. I reallly like this

Wow, I have honestly never seen such an accident. For all we know this could be a photo of another picture or book you saw in a store, and then saturated it to the point of it being unidentifiable.

As Bob says. Excellent stuff.

Art, pure and simple. Viewing your portfolio tonight, has lifted me from the doldrums of DPC. Thanks!

I enjoyed the minimal simplicity of this image, bare of any distracting elements. The strong contrast coupled with the soft aquarell colours is unique and quite satisfying. The genourous crop renders a pleasing experience which does, unfortunately, not please all the crowd.

I've been experimenting with photos like this... IMO you can get pretty close to this with 35mm and no Photoshop. Shame that people don't realise how creative they can get with their cameras and light. Well done.

From the Critique Club

IMHO this shot has gone beyond the boundries of photographic integrity. In other words it is no longer a photograph. It is some kind of digital art and using the challenge rules as a guideline, this doesn't truly belong on this site.

Nothing personal,
TC

Interesting shot, nice light effect. I don't really feel the picture conveys any conflict message.

great

This is a really cool abstract shot. I'd hang it on the wall. The conflict isn't clear though... otherwise, I like.

Err ... conflict?

really cool picture… but is this in the basic edit guidlines? i'm marking it up for the benefit of the doubt.

I like the theme but it appears too out of focus
02/29/2004 11:25:31 PM
I really, really like this shot.

Interesting. I like the concept.

I like this technique. C'mon--give up the secret! I like the implied conflict between the two groups. The pure white background both highlights and isolates the figures. Good work.

I'm very interested in seeing the technical details for this when the challenge is over. It's a great shot - the high contrast and use of defocus on the subjects really adds drama. Not sure how it will actually do here at dpc, being a bit outside of the box, but it's an easy 9 from me.

Very odd and interesting; not sure how you created this effect. I hope you tell afterward. The shot inspires me to create my own story about what is going on; the mysterious title doesn't help much but that's fine with me. :)

i don't see the conflict
02/28/2004 03:29:59 AM
does this remind anyone of that movie Cocoon
02/27/2004 10:18:48 PM
very abstract and interesting Not sure about this one but because it is unusual to me I will give it a 7

The absolutely wonderful post processing you did on this image totally eliminated any sense of conflict that may have been visible in the expressions of the people. To me it looks like a friendly scene that doesn't fit the title. The figures remind me of those in a painting. I'm curious about what this scene really was and what the title means. 5

????????

This is good - it definitely evokes some kind of detached feeling. The one thing that bothers me slightly is the all-white background, though, which doesn't quite match the general feeling of the photo (seems too pure or happy; not sure).

Something about this shot appeals to me but I am not sure why.... maybe its the abstract look it has? I don't personally find it fitting the challenge that much (is it showing a stand-off?). Were your going for High Key?

Not sure I see the conflict...as a photograph, it's interesting, but doesn't really do it for me.
02/26/2004 08:16:09 PM
Very interesting shot--though provoking. I'm not real sure how it represents "conflict" though. 5

interesting photo. It's pleasing to eye in a wierd sort of way. I'm not experienced enough to talk about the technical effects you have going on here, but to my untrained eye, this is a good depiction of "conflict"

I LOVE this photo. Obviously it's got some work done to it, but I don't care! It's hard to see the conflict though so it won't get top marks from me. Outside of the challenge it would, though. 5

This is realy an original shot. How did you do this? I could belive that this one will not score high but I like it. The only thing is that the characters rather seems to be discussing things in friendship than having a conflict
02/25/2004 10:07:05 AM
Excellent effect and scene. Very artistic!

Difficult to see the conflict in the image, but I really like the photo anyway.
