Challenge: Textures II (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Olympus C-3000Z
Location: Basement
Date: Feb 16, 2004
Aperture: F10
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1 sec.
Galleries: Still Life, Black and White
Date Uploaded: Feb 17, 2004

Mounted the tee in a piece of white styrofoam and lit with one 60 watt lamp. The styrofoam naturally reflected the light up and worked as a fill on the bottom of the ball.
I adjusted levels, applied unsharpen mask and dust and scratch filter, converted to greyscale, cropped and added border.

its simple but i actually really like this shot, well thought out and not just thrown together, should have finished higher. Good job

Good lighting and focus, probably the best of the golf ball shots.

Good choice of subject but see the other golf ball entry

Nice lighting. Maybe a bit hot in the upper left, but there are so many shades of light that it seems very balanced to me. Wonder how others view the texture? Less than two weeks until I travel to warm weather for a week of golf....woops, got off topic there, but your photo caused it!

You picked a nice subject, a golf ball definately is textured, you meet the challenge well. Nicely composed and I love the black and white. Nice work.

I really like this, esp. how the shadow splits into it. 10

Nicely composed shot, good use of b&w, lighting works to bring out the dimples and throw part of the ball into black.

Excellently lit, really produces the texture, both the pits and the plasticity of the ball, and what appears to be a wooden tee. Very simple, though the areas of shading that really might appeal to me are quite small, and perhaps the shade too dark for a a wow factor - or too sudden maybe: constrained mid-tones.

The texture is here. The subject and composition lack interest to me. I would like just a little more ght on the right side.

Maybe a bit too much contrast and a bit too symmetrical for my taste, but I'm a golfer so you get extra points for subject matter.

Wow that's a clean ball, and a really clean shot. The lighting is just about perfect. Did you use any noise reduction software on this?
