 A lamp in our living room. I've wanted to photograph it for some time, because I like the textures and shadows. So this seemed the time. There are normally tassles around the "neck" and I originally intended to include them as an accent. But they sort of mute the effect of the shadows from the ridges by casting their own shadow, so I ended up with a simpler shot. Hope its not too boring.

I think I'm either frustrated with my lack of progress in photoshop or becoming a minimalist as far as post-processing. Or maybe I'm getting better up front. Anyway, all I did was bump the contrast up with curves, sharpen and clean with Neat Image, resize and resharpen. Added a border - I just haven't used one in a while, and once added, I liked the boundry it set.

The highlights and the shadows really gives helps to show the great curves that are on the subject. The textures of the subject really comes through. The well lit top of the subject makes your eyes look at the top and work your way down. "9"

Rather good this. Great sense of texture, great depth, beautiful progression of light. Feels a touch not straight, to me: may simply be an optical illusion from the curve of the banding: looking at the very top of the thing though, that impression is reinforced. Fairly minor point though. Best so far.

This is very nice on many levels. The lighting is really nothing less than perfect. The ripples as well as the material of the vase show great texture. The black and white works well and the composition and focus present the subject in an artful way. Very nicely done, and I think it will score well.
