I am absolutely shocked that this picture did not place higher. I gave it a 10 and I still think it should have been a ribbon winner. You can feel the coarse texture of the fur, the grainy texture of the skin around rim of the eye and even the hair stuck on the eyeball makes me blink thinking about how that must feel. I think you were robbed!

+ Good closeup of the behold :p, excellent way to show us the texture of its fur and eyelid. Strong colours and a nice composition.
- DOF is just a tad too shallow (see the middle top of the photo).

This is a lovely textural image of your pet. I'm sure this beauty held still patiently untill you finished all the photographs your heart desired. Nice job on the challenge.

Outstanding, the detail of this shot is amazing, the pupil of the eye looks like a starburst, the expression in the eyes are very apparent, and the texture of the coat is great 8

Terrific close up of this...um, dog? Something furry! Strong presentation of the texture. I would have liked the eye placed differently in the crop, but that's just my opinion.

Great take on subject. Excellent exposure. I'd have cropped from left a bit to eliminate shadow from other eye socket, though.

Good work. Really captured the wiriness of the animal's fur. , especially over the eye and to the left of frame. Not convinced, photogrphaically, about the benefits of the very shallow DOF, mostly where the hiar to the left of the eye comes forwards of the focal plane. Confuses my eye a little.

Beautiful - absolutely beautiful. My dog, Marilyn, a lab/husky cross has beautiful eyes like this, but she's afraid of my camera and won't let me photograph her. Great detail in the hair texture. I see this placing very very high.
