Thanks for all of your kind comments. This shot was very easy to execute, but took many shots before I chose this one. Basically the flower was against a black background and I used my 28-75 lens and a long exposure. I set it to the final size and zoomed. Sometimes I zoomed in and sometimes I zoomed out. I used to do slides for multi projector shows with type and graphics in the "old Days" BC (before computers) and one of the effects we did with type was the zoom. It looked cool with type and I have been playing with it on objects. I have also seen it work really effectively in action shots also. Haven't tried that yet myself.

I didn't have time to comment at all on this challenge, but I have a few minutes now, and this is what I have to say about this amazing shot:

This was one of the two 10's I gave for this challenge. Although it made the top 50, I thought it would at least make it to the top 3.
I really love this photo. It was original and well excuted.
A winner in my book!

beautiful, love the colours against the black background. the camera technique (can't remember what it's called) worked really well.

Nice image... I'm not sure whether I agree with the zoom effect, but that's just me.

very nice zoom image. Think it may work better with white or red bg, nevertheless great shot.

Sharpening this up a little would have brought out more detail in the flower, maybe alos playing with the colour balance would have brought out the yellow.

That's a great technique you have there! I'm going to have to go give that a try (if I'm right about how you did it). I love coming across photos in the challenges that actually inspire me. Great work. I'm also curious if these are the natural colors or if you changes the color balance and saturation in PS.

Interesting image - even if that's a printed background, or an in-exposure zoom out, it removes the real attention from the flower and promotes that explosion as the main source of interest. Nice shot though, nice graphic. Surprised not to see a validation note on this by now.

Good title. Wish it had a little more "pop" to the colors, which would also bring out the texture more, I think. I do like this.

Very interesting, how did you do that? I love the way the color green stands out in your picture. However, I don't get the feeling of texture. Don't get me wrong, I do know that texture is portrayed in many different ways, but for me, it doesn't hit me as texture. With all that said, I still think the shot is great, so my vote will be a 6.
