OK, so it's a stretch, and a cliche (sp?). Oh well. :)

Shot RAW, converted and worked on in PSCS3.
Adjusted exposure, colours, contrast/brightness in conversion.
In PS, adjusted curves and colours, applied NN, used variations, resized, more NN, USM, saved for web.

AFTER THE CHALLENGE:

Uh, oh, I really wasn't expecting this. Well. FWIW, this image was made 1 minute and 16 seconds before "apocalyptic vision" - same place, of course :)

Thank you for all the comments/votes, it's all very much appreciated.

Ooohhh, that would be fun! :)

Well you certainly don´t fool around or waste shot´s/opportunities, hehe, congrats! Reminds me when I took my postcard and free study red ribbon winners last year only 1 minute apart and standing in the same place :)

Thanks for posting the originals Ursula. I was expecting more heavy processing but apart from the dodge/burn on "apocalyptic vision", there's not much more than what a tinted filter would have achieved. I'm even more impressed, if that's possible! :) The originals are stand out pictures in their own right, I love the dark exposure, gives them more of a "fantasy" feel.

Medicine Lake, Alberta, in the Canadian Rockies. Medicine Lake is not too far from Jasper, on the north end of Jasper National Park, on the road to Maligne Lake. It's an interesting lake because it has a very large underground drainage system. At the time I was there, this side of the lake had water, but further down the lake there were a lot of areas with no water, more like running channels, and lots of animal tracks in the sandy soil. It was quite cold though, but beautiful.
