I hate the letter-box borders......and I generally like borders! LOL!!! I love the steely gaze and the DOF very much. Excellent image!

This is SO COOL!!! And I love those classy borders. I'm so happy to see they didn't ding you for it. This is typically one border-hating bunch!!! What a GREAT photo!!!!

David, welcome to DPC, an awesome result for your first challenge entry (and even in a free study!). I had a look at your website, I especially like the "Lost in the Landings" pictures (and "backdrop"!).

I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work here on DPC, I guess you'll ribbon in no time.

I give up!!! This is great. I like the colors and look it has. Would have had a little more old west feel if the power tower were not in the background, though.

My pick for the Blue. This is absolutely fantastic - must be the still shot for the Ad campaign... it has PRO written all over it. Whatever they're paying you, it's not enough. Hopefully enough voters take the time to get to this shot (certainly slow going). If it doesn't win, it's only because not enough people saw it. Well done.

Normally I am not at all fond of shots where the camera is looking down the barrel of a gun. Just not my cup of tea at all. But this one seems to carry a bit of a story with it and I love the powerlines for some odd reason. So I'll even vote on it (I usually don't vote on shots where I have to look down the barrel of a gun.)

how can this not be a ribbon winner? great composition, color, light. can't stop looking at it! the only minute detail is that the guy seems to be looking ever so slightly to the left of the photo, could have been even stronger if looking straight ahead.

8 - Nice quality and processing. The gun being not straight is distracting, but fairly minor. Whether you could gain this depth with it in focus as well, not sure, but does work like this too.

the electical pole on the background is a bit distracting because is too much near the head, but the image is very strong 7

Straight out of a film.

This is completely awesome. The skill in this shot is amazing! I wonder how it would look without the powerlines?

good shot in a bad location; DOF, colors and framing are perfect, the powerline just kills the movie-like impression

Very nice HDR, looks like a screen grab from the latest Clint Eastwood film. Not a fan of "gun" images, but you've pulled this off nicely.

Great pic.... The colors fit the mood, great dof - IMHO it would have been a little better if the guy was looking at you... but nicely done :o)

The use of the thick borderrs make me think this is a still image from a movie. I like it overall - the lighting and composition. Too bad about the electrical "giants" in the background. A little distracting to me.

Oh that's good. Love his squinted eye so he can aim the gun. I like it.

Wow, wow, wow! Looks like a scene out of a movie (and not just because of the black borders)! I like the shallow DOF. I like the expression (this guy is damn serious!). I like the lighting. I like the background that tells us where this might be taking place. What did you do to the colors to make them seem movie-like?

Great job. I hope it does well. 10.

I like how you've given your subject context with that background. Also nice touch with the bordering/crop.

Very nice photo but I don't see any purpose for the tower in the background. It rather distracts from the image.
