It is my idea here to break from the traditional insect macro mode where the bug is isolated from its environment to a large extent, to become the sole focus of the shot. I wanted here to capture the total environment, with the insect as a component of it, yet remaining the focal point of the composition. Hence the title "Oasis", denoting the environment and its function (animals go tot he oasis to drink) as opposed to titling on the insect — which I don't even know what it is, btw :-)

A very nice image, the colours and swirls from the petals really make the shot for me. I would have prefered the wasps head to be in focus but it needs the shallow DOF for the flower to work. A great entry
