This is quite an amazing find. I have no idea what it is, but it certainly fits the challenge. To me, the grain makes it look all the more mysterious, and I think it is very good for the image. However, it probably wasn't so good for your score. Regardless of what the voters said, I say "well done".

Not sure where you find your subject material sometimes, but this is terrific. Old Boat? Love the noise in the image. Good style.

Nice. Perhaps it needs more contrast and pop, but its very interesting and I like the PP. It looks like a prop from Blade Runner, or Lost perhaps.
