Taken at Edworthy Park in Calgary. This was the second shoot of the weekend, practicing with off camera lighting but this was one of the few that were taken with ambient only.

Taken on my friends d70s with a 85mm f/1.8 nikkor while he was off with my camera and the lights.

PP was very simple

Curves layer for contrast
Hue/Sat to drop saturation slightly
A few stacked gaussian blur layers at different strengths at different opacities.
Save for web.

------------

Thanks everyone for the awesome comments, even though it got DQ'd I was still very happy all week.

Damn, I was totally thinking of the gaussian blur layers as sort of adjustments, didn't even cross my mind till after the challenge. Oh well its all in the learning. Glad to have a 6.9 rated image though WOO!

Funny how we have both entered pictures of her, very similar backdrop, and no flash. I am definitely realizing that not every shot needs off camera flash.

Excellent image. Love the colors and softness and the amazing DoF. Never mind the DQ - this is a great photo.

Nice depth - but it would have been nice if there had been something to stop the eyes before they move out of the picture in the top left corner.

Very nice portrait. May have considered changing the angle just a bit to eliminate the green from the top left. 7

really beautiful portrait, love everything about this, the colors, perspective, the girl's expression. only thing i'm not sure about is if the softness really helps to convey the atmosphere of the scene...
a 7 though
