Thanks everyone for your very helpful comments! Lots to learn, but I'm looking forward to the challenge!
-----------------

This is my first submission to the dpc, so please be gentle! Constructive criticism is welcomed!

Taken with a 5 second exposure. It was tough get that long an exposure and still keep everything lit properly. I had my studio light turned down very, very low making it difficult to get the second hand illuminated enough without blowing out the entire watch face.

Post processing involved colour balance, dodging the watch band, smart sharpening the watch face, and burning the 'FOSSIL' on the watch face.

I found that it didn't sit quite right on a surface, so I had to hang it on something. I decided on a branch as a nod to Salvador Dali's 'Clocks'.

Nice and simple photo. Love the soft background and the color tone. Great catch of the second hand in action.

the background is a bit destracting, i think if you had just zoomed in on the watch the focus would be directed better. Nice use of the watch for motion

The motion is hardly noticeable in this shot. The contrast is great though, and the focus is nice as well. As for a strong center of interest, well it's not too great.

lighting is a bit dark on the watch face; however, the overall feel is quite nice

Nicely focused and sharp the toning is rather boring, but the second hand blinking for 4 seconds make you think of the exposure time and his depth of field. a wll thought of image if a little done to often.
