Challenge: Impressionism II (Advanced Editing V*)
Camera: Sony DSC-F707
Location: Sushi Bar
Date: Sep 3, 2007
Aperture: 2.0
ISO: 100
Shutter: 30
Galleries: Abstract, Still Life
Date Uploaded: Sep 6, 2007

I think Impressionism is the subjective use of the camera for the dedicated purpose of capturing color, light, & surface of fleeting moments. This goes against the traditional use of the cameral to record an objective, detail-oriented documentation of reality. I predict this will score below 4.0 because of the soft focus & blown whites in the window & because (since it's subjective) it won't meet anyone's criteria for Photo-Impressionism but mine. I took this in a very dark sushi bar, shooting into the light. I'm interested to see the other entries in this intriguing challenge! "D

Toulouse Latrec painted this while his face was in a bowl of peanuts. No wait, Manet painted this while his face was in Toulouse Latrec. You've bookended Impressionism! Have a drink! (good job. I gave this an 8)

This fits the challenge perfectly (subject matter, composition, lighting), but those pink walls in the back are brutal - actually the whole background :). 6

The background is a bit busy and distracting for me, but I really like the lighting on the glass of tea.

Fits the bill for me without the use of gauche photoshop filters. 7.
