Challenge: Your Shadow (Advanced Editing I)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Location: Australia
Date: Feb 2, 2004
Aperture: 11
ISO: 1600
Shutter: 30 seconds
Galleries: Landscape, Digital Art
Date Uploaded: Feb 2, 2004

My first fairly major workshoped picture. Shot in ISO1600, so the grain was blurred out. Brighten silhouette, stars, clone out weeds, sharpen shadow edges, adjust brightness and color.

It was shot using and IR trigger and exposed for 30 Seconds, I wanted to get Higher but this was as far as the IR remote would reach. I hope you like it, I spent about 5 hours on it!

Good job with what looks like a tricky exposure. I like the way you got the subject lined up with the foreground patterns.

Nice way to get shadow/caster in the same frame while mostly hiding the caster! How long was the exposure? nice job of standing still!

IMHO this would have been a much stronger shot with less empty black at the bottom. The subject is almost lost in all that black.

I think this is wonderful. It's hard for me to tell if it was a real photo or just a digital creation but the end result works for me. The theme is clearly expressed, the grout in the tile provides great leading lines and the overall composition is a lot of fun. congrats.

WOW ! If you had done a crop to take out the top area and left the black then the bottom this would be a 10 and a print I would buy. The sunlight area draws the eye away from the main subject, the shadow. It's still great and outside the box.
Just maybe try that crop ?

Cool! The contrast between the curves of the landscape and the squares of the tiles is great.
