Challenge: Fill the Frame III (Advanced Editing V)
Camera: Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro
Lens: Nikon AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED VR
Location: England
Date: Aug 23, 2007
Date Uploaded: Aug 23, 2007

Shot in RAW with the fujifilm S5 at 800 ISO. Opened in PSCS2 duplicate layer, convert 1st layer to B&W and add layer mask, black pen tool on mask to colour the eye. flatten image, sharpen tool at 25% to highlight bit of fur and whiskers especially around the eye area (this is the main part of the shot I wanted to elaborate on), curves on black, resize to 630, add 10 pixel border, submit.

That was basically the editing (except the crop sorry forgot to mention it). I'm sure there will be some pet lovers that will not like this picture but this cat HAD a bad life and was then rescued by a very good friend of mine Tarlok and now has a wonderful life fit for a cat, It's a she cat, she is a fat cat and a lazy cat, perfect cat model. The eye was lost with the previous owner, It don't seem to bother her as she still gets around fine and can see very well. Thanks for all your votes and comments.

Awesome capture. I don't really like the border, but this image is moving. Something about the way the cat isn't quite looking directly at the camera strengthens what the title suggests. Like she's thinking about something so intensely awful that the average person couldn't possibly understand, without experiencing it themselves...

I think 5.6 is shocking for this photo. Talk about underrated! I love his sharp, but soft dreamy fur. And those eyes. ..or I should say that eye: exquisite.

Interesting shot, especially with emphasis being on the one eye.

Is this "Old Soldier", the one-eyed wonder cat? :P ...what's with all the Cyclops pets in this challenge? :)

Love the detail - and the sharp, colorful eye. Good luck!
