Beautifully framed - luminous and shadowy all at once.

fantastic capture, i love how we can see the way the angle is changing when the rope enters the water.

He's cheating. The water is clear, I can see the ground underneath it, even in the picture. Cheater. He can see the fish, but if they see him, they don't understand what he is. He can see them, dangle his bait in front of them, move it back and forth enticingly, the bait placed unceremoniously on a string and stick, maybe even a safety pin for a hook, he can lure them in, and then suddenly, they're hooked. This is some kind of fish horror film . . .

Love this nostalgic shot. You have another illustration for your story book. Let's see: a magic goose and a country boy, you're off to a great start.

I saw this in the Posthumous thread (didn't vote in this challenge) and said "I'll bet that's Christian's". Your work is rich, always fully developed (not in the film sense), inquisitive in most cases, and the kind of thing that draws a viewer to linger and take in. This is no exception.

The first impression is typical fishing idyll, but it quickly sinks in that this doesn't quite fit. The boy is off the bank, practically in the water. The water is filled with algae or seaweed. The boy is merely holding a stick with a string hanging straight down. Something more mischievous than fishing is going on, though I can't quite figure it out. That rock(?) is too square, suggesting that this might be an urban scene. Questions are raised, unanswerable. The oddly geometric, one-sided composition just adds to the sense of wonder. My kinda picture!

ahh, Very nice. I really like the right angle of the stick and backlit line, and how it changes direction as it hits the surface.

Beautiful lighting. Adds the right drama for the moment you captured.

A picture of a little down the side ... The boy captured me but the balck and white treatment doesn't.

too much dead space...maybe crop off the top

Nice idea. I think I would like to see this in a horizontal format as opposed to a square. The extra information at the top of the photo is not essential to the main subject.

IMO a tighter crop on the left and the color version may have worked better for me in this image.

Very nice. Old-time-y charm here. nice color tones. I'd have cropped down from the top by about 1/4 of the hieght, to remove dead space, and ensure the eye is sent directly to the boy, not the muck highlights at the top. But still very nice, and I'm sure a family keeper. 7 from me.

Nice image - The PP looks a little heavy though and the composition a little awkward.
