 Taken in NC at Jockey's Ridge State Park.

Processing: Lightroom to convert RAW, crop, and reduce to 720; then a tone mapped layer in PS, noise reduction on that, set to multiply and masked to apply to the bottom of the shot mostly. Then a velvia adjustment layer to intensify the colors. He was tethered in this shot like a real kite because of the winds being too high. I cloned out the strap which was small and exited left of the photo.

As to the "angle", this is one of the instructors of the hang gliding class. Because of the high winds, they cancelled the class but the instructors stayed behind to get in some personal flight time and try some tricks in dealing with the high wind. (And in response to some of the post-challenge comments, this was not "set up", they were just doing what they wanted, and I was just a stranger standing there photographing!)

Beautiful photography! I so appreciate seeing a glider in this challenge since we call the apparatus a wing, and you got it a ribbon! I wanted to go out and get some shots of my fellow paragliders or hanggies, but there is no action this time of the year. You warmed my heart, thanks.
