Camera: Nikon D80
Lens: Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4.0-5.6G ED
Location: Fresno Yosemite Airport, Taxiway Charlie
Date: Aug 14, 2007
Aperture: F/6.3
ISO: 250
Shutter: 1/500
Galleries: Transportation, Military
Date Uploaded: Aug 14, 2007

Adjusted vibrance, saturation, contrast, brightness, sharpened, cropped and framed. Some clone brush on some ugly light poles.

The lens used here is not listed on the DPC site. Possibly due to it's age, maybe from being a film camera lens. I used a Quanterey 1:6.3 f = 400mm film camera lens.

Technically not wings?

Each rotor is an airfoil. A propellor is an airfoil. A wing is an airfoil.

Sorry, helo rotors are wings, even though they rotate.

I was told by a wise old film shooting aviation photographer that you should never freeze the rotors or propellers when taking a photograph of a flying aircraft. I also know, from experience, that it's incredibly difficult to do and still take a sharp photo. It's even harder with a helicopter, because the main rotor spins slowly compared to the shutter speed of the camera. It's a good pic, but if you had shot it at 1/30 or slower, if possible, it would be a great pic. Don't let this be a discouragement for you, either. Keep shooting!
