Challenge: Free Study 2007-08 (Expert Editing)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Location: Kariani, Greece
Date: Aug 17, 2007
Aperture: f/7.5
ISO: 800
Shutter: 3631 sec (total)

Date Uploaded: Aug 13, 2007

I used 9 images for this composition.
The great galaxy in Andromeda (M31) is an average stack of 8 photos, this was done to reduce noise, and there was a lot of processing afterwards in order to enhance the details and further reduce the noise.
Canon 300D was attached in Celestron ED80 with a T-ring in prime focus. During these 8 shots with duration for each of them 329s, 332s, 480s, 480s, 519s, 482s, 482s, 527s , I was manually guiding through Celestron C8 SCT and a red-cross illuminated eyepiece, something absolutely necessary in order to make corrections for the periodic and misalignment errors of the CG-5 GT mount.
The Moon is a single image taken with Olympus C70 hand-held over Celestron's ED80 eyepiece, a method known as afocal.

Nice detail in the moon, but the background comes off a bit soft & with artifacts. But I'll assume you actually shot the background shots too in which case the artifacts are forgivable!

The celestial sky seems a bit flat compared to the wonderful image of the moon. Its nice though.

This is lovely. Almost like a poster - all it needs is the motivational phrase - Oh... that's the next challenge. ;~D

Dude ...this is great. I hope you captured each on your own and they are not pictures of "pictures"....I'll vote as if you shot these with your scope and put together in Photoshop. 10
