18th PLACE..........I'm happy!! :+)
Thanks. Thanks to everyone for your nice comments.
The sun was very bright and I had the blinds closed I think that is why the 'blur' fades so funny on this shot. <?> All in all I like it and I'm happy so many of you did also. Again thanks for the votes.

I love your pic! Why? Maybe because I love yellow. I want to buy a copy from you. Please email me. Thanks.

Beautifull colors and composition. The blur is so strong it looks artifical, could have been less strong.

ooey-gooey! I love it. It is a strangely sharp dropoff of focus field after the flower, which almost makes it look false. I might have stopped down one or two to get a smoother perspective fade. 8.5 doesn't exist, so 9 will do. - mjcecil

background is a little too grainy/texturey to be a good 'neg space' pic
09/20/2002 12:12:00 PM
Great colours and I like the DOF on the slats.

Great shot! I love the colors - so warm and inviting. The composition is great. I love the focus (just curious, what it would like like in b/w...not that I don't love it the way it is) The flower appears as if it is floating. There's only one thing that bothers me (and I'm sure you've heard it already) is the bottom left corner, it appears that it was over contrasted/sharpened...Why this bothers me, because the rest of the image is so smooth and flowing and the speckles take away from that....this is my reaction. Anyway...This is a wall hanger. Oh, Yes the neg space definately affects the impact of this image!! Great work 9

It has a nice feel to it. I don't see the negative space, though

While it's nice that your background has similarly the same colour as your flower, those lines are very distracting.

a floating black eyed susan....... I feel cheated, where is the stem? This flower looks glued to clap board siding.......... however, this image meets my idea of the challenge criteria. eight or seven.

This one actually made me say "WOW" when it popped up on my screen. Very good shot. There has been a lot of talk about what the negative space is supposed to do in this challenge, but I think it all blends nicely in this picture. In my favorites and a 10 for you. I think this should win....good luck

Nice photo but I feel more contrast with the background would be better. Also, the blinds are focused on the left but not on the right. I think it should be all or nothing, if you catch my drift. However, this is not a bad photo by any measure.
