 I meant to enter this in the July free study, but I was busy reading the book, and didn't get the post processing done in time.

I went to Target and got the biggest lampshade they had, then used duct tape to tape a flash into it, then taped a (backwards) baseball cap to the flash. I have a wireless trigger for the flash. Even with the baseball cap, I had to balance everything just right to keep it from falling off my head. The flash sitting on top of my head was surprisingly painful.

I was holding the camera remote inside the book.

I also lit the shot with another flash (through an umbrella) from the side.

Then I returned the lampshade to Target and got my money back.

I finally had to seek out this picture after seeing it as your profile picture for so long. Great shot. How did you do the light in the lamp shade? I can identify with getting distracted with the book and missing the deadline.

God that's funny. I like the red theme of it too. Heh, we've all had a lampshade on our head a time or two. ;~D
