Challenge: Painting with Light (Advanced Editing I)
Camera: Nikon Coolpix 5700
Location: Bell, Florida
Date: Jan 19, 2004
Aperture: f2.8
ISO: 200
Shutter: 8 sec
Galleries: Nature, Rural
Date Uploaded: Jan 25, 2004

Taken in Bell Florida while on vacation. Used a 1 million power flashlight and got a lot of highlights, too many in my opinion. Adjusted brightness and contrast in PS, painted out bottom clutter. Selected highlights and applied gaussian blur to try and decrease brightness, didn't work to well, this is the best i got. Border made with increasing canvas.

Beauty and great photographs are in the eye of the beholder. If I had a penny every time I critiqued one of my own photographs I would be a millionaire. Sometimes it's better to enjoy art for what it is and to remember the moment. Great photo!!!

I loved this one! IMHO it was better than mine by a mile! Certainly met the challenge and very interesting lighting. I could see how you'd done it and want to try it myself.

I really liked this one. IMO this should have been more high up in the finish. I love the glow in this shot. It looks very artistic.

This one doesn't look right to me. It looks more like you erased the color.

I think the idea here is excellent.. I love how you took this outdoors, too. I think though that the light was used too much around the rim, blowing out the detail of the fronds. The center of the tree has a lovely surrealness to it.

Way to go. I thought of doing this with a saguaro cactus, but did not have the time. Looks like you had a perfect, windless night for this shot.

Very nicely done! It is overexposed though and details get lost there.

good idea, I think slightly over exposed. maybe a lower intensity spotlight would help.
