sketched it out on a piece of paper, so both boys had an idea, what I wanted. Searched and found a wall we could use. I needed a wall where the sun can come in at a very low angle. Set everything up and waited for the last few seconds until the tree's shadow were creeping up from below. Took 4 exposures with small corrections for each.
I could not manage to have the tall guy be taller, and the little guy's shadow complete - with legs -apearing in the picture without his body showing. Once I managed to do this, the point of view was too far from the side, disturbing all porportions. So I had to find a title explaining why the little one's feet are not visible.
Hope you enjoy

Thank you all for your nice comments.
While I never entertained any educational thoughts during the shooting, some of you opened my eyes to an other interpretation of my picture. I thank you for that.

Very creative. He must be standing on a box or stool?

On a technical level, this is well done, with the exception that the two models are at different levels. But it doesn't matter much. What comes through is the raw emotion associated with this scene and the feeling experienced by way too many children. Parents should help their children develop self esteem and not make them sink into the ground.

My score is high enough to possibly win a ribbon, but I hope yours gets the blue. 10

Good idea but I think picture would be more effective if the "child" shadow showed a full body rather than being cut off at the knees as it is.

Intresting shot, the shadows edges seems a bit harsh though.

Nice capture - Nice creative and striking image - I find the half boy just a tad distracting. Great saturation though.
