I just joined, so this is my first submission. I hope I'm doing everything okay.

In Photoshop, all I did was up the contrast a bit, and add a border.

HI and greetings from the Critique Club, welcome to DPC too. I have to admit when I first saw your shot while voting I dont recall seeing the man in the background, I was too focused on the white light, I do like it considerably more now that I have noticed him. But I think my initial oversight is worth noting, I think allowing your subjects to compliment each other is probably important. The light source here is very overpowering. I think however that you do have good technical aspects working here, good low ISO creating no noise in dark image. Nice sharpness too...
I hope that you stick around at DPC there is lots to learn, welcome and happy shooting!!

Nice idea and effect. I feel like the edges of the light should not have been cropped out and the line along the bottom is distracting.

I like the idea and I _love_ the colors - but the composition - falling as it does off the left side - is distracting. Hard to control the light, I imagine, a fire being somewhat unpredicatable.

i do not want to be harsh critisizing or anything like that but i really dont think that the composition builds upto anything. backgroudn and foreground seems to be battling one another...may be if the foregroudn light was dimmer and a more meaningful shape and the head was places more appropriately relative to the foreground light, this could have been a more appealing picture..

I know you had fun with this theme, but perhaps your composition would have had a little more punch if you had all the white light streak in the image. The eyes give lots of interest.

I like the mood of this image. Would have like to see more face though.

Well exposed with good contrast. Very low noise considering the light levels. I'm not sure what pattern the light is intended to create other than to illuminate the subject's face. The only problem I have with the light pattern is it is a little jittery.I think this type of shot would benefit from a smoother movement of the light source.
