WOW! I'm not going to have another week like this in a while.

You can read about the shot on the thread here.

While I was extremely happy in having another personal best (at least personal best besides the Rhythm shot) in a shot that wasn't a landscape, I was overwhelmed by the # of comments. Thanks for everybody's support. It's really fun when it all comes together.

I couldn't stop smiling when I saw this

Great old times Jason! I really miss you and the team...
PS: It was a kind and funny homage from william88 to your work.

I really like the effort you seem to put in to all you do! Lovely shot!

I imagine you have a happy married and family life, somehow, as you seem to have such good principles - I like the inclusion of the motto about being a fabulous and wonderful (not exact words, but the feeling's that)from the clinic. I cannot imagine you being a failure, but success in all in life.

I am sure that you will go far in your photography too - I found it hard to imagine taking all that many shots to get the right one, but it has obviously paid off - persistence pays!

I wish I was more like you myself - you have inspired me to try harder in my own life. I wish you all the best in everything, and look forward to seeing more of your photographic work.

The explanation that you have given us on this photo helps all of us that are not up to your standard understand that getting it right first time in photography, like life, rarely happens, but this should not make us give up but encourage us to strive harder. Even though I have not 'Challenged' your work inspires.

Congrats on two ribbons this week! AWESOME and OUTSTANDING! Your other ribbon winner...simply GORGEOUS landscape of trees. Well done as we've always come to expect from such a First Class photographer.

I read some of your thread and stopped because I started getting upset that people on this site are absolutely ridiculous. I think it's great that it took you 130 shots to get it right and that you shared it with your team to perfect it. I think ALL 72 teams did the same thing as well. Just because you have 10+ ribbons does not make you a professional in photography in any case it just means you know what people like and have a wonderful camera to take the shot in mind. Creativity plays a huge part on this site and people fail to realize that when it comes to a challenge. I think Scalvert said it best in one of his threads that you have to shoot something that isn't everyday normal things. "Do something that stands out and it will gain the votes" (Or something along that line).

Anyway you guys are awesome and I admire "The Ribbon Hogs" Someday I hope that I shall be a Ribbon Hog and just so I can take some under my wing and try to help them become a great also.

Congrats on your new blue. It was well deserved.

I perused your thread in the forums, interesting...it is quite "the norm" that in medicine collaboration is the name of the game...it is the best way by which all details can be pondered, and one's education in the art of medicine continues, even for the most polished & seasoned physicians...so why should the art of photgraphy, or any craft for that matter, be any different?

my thought for the day...(oh, & you owe me .98 back from my dollar :)

Jason,
Thanks for sharing with this wonderful community the “behind the scenes" of this photo. Usually the winners only give explanations about post-processing techniques, but you decided to explain all the process. I applaud that. If my English was enough I would be doing the same thing giving return to all of these people which I’ve been learning so much.

I’m glad this photo did so well! Congrats!

Congrats on the ribbon. What I like best about this is the family affair aspect of it - that your dad was helping you with it. And I think the wedding ring is actually a nice touch - nothing wrong with being in love with your wife!! (Besides, without it you look like a little boy, almost, which adds a bit of whimsy to this.)

I particularly like the control of exposure and DOF here: nice detail in the wrinkles on white and black fabric clothes, and perfect not too blurred not too sharp bg.

Excellent shot. I love the "Irish" feeling here. I think the background keeps it from being a perfect "ten"- perhaps a cottage in the background or a better view, less cropped. But still excelent clarity and theme. 9++++

What no suicide picture?? Ok by far the BEST of the challenge. My pic for the blue ribbon. I love your take on the challenge. Think positive, don't kill yourself, or show depression, but rejoice in life and in love. You portrayed that beautifully. I love the jump feet kicker pose thingy you pulled off. The sharpness and composition is right on. Colors are great. I mean everything about this says blue. Not a big fan of the bigger borders but even that works in your shot. Only thing I'm upset about is that I can only give you a 10!! Congrats on a wonderful shot.

This is a perfect shot for this category! I like the black and white clothing next to the vibrant colors. My only negative comment is that it looks like he is making his way into the rough, as it were. I think a path or opening would have made the picture a little better.
