 Common flax or linseed (Linum usitatissimum)

In my biology department, students do a scavenger hunt at the end of the year in place of a written final. They have to collect living specimens outside (animals, plants, fungi...) that fit specific categories (ex. autotroph, dicot flower, annual...)and then present them to me with some research they have done.
To make a long story short, this plant came from one of my students this year.

A beautiful capture. From the purple flowers, green stems, to the golden background, the colors work wonderfully well together. Great job with the composition , DOF and focus, getting those two buds perfectly sharp like that with a nice blur of the background and foreground.

Ah, blue flax! Love them, we get very little of it here. Love the colour combination. Beautifully done. You're good with flowers :)

fells all warm & summery, like a perfect July day! the plants' colors against that bg create the warmth, I think.

Everything about this image is wonderful. The color, comp, detail and especially the whimsical title that evokes the feeling of flight from the dainty light blue flowers. Lovely.
