My tribute to the H G Wells classic 'The War of the Worlds'.
The landscape image was taken in the field behind my house just before a rain storm. The tripods were created from a mixture of farm silo's and girders nearby, lots of cutting and pasteing and layers and swearing later we have martian fighting machines!
Spent too much time on this but enjoyed it lots!

Post Challenge

Thanks for all the great comments. I was trying to give this a 'real' look but also wanted it to have the look of and old film or photograph. With this in mind I also wanted my fighting machines to look anything but high tech as War of the Worlds was witten in 1898, in the Victorian era after all!
For anyone interested this is my Martian Fighting Machine;

When I read The War of the Worlds as a young man this is what I saw in my minds eye. This and The Time Machine are two of my all time favorites. It is amazing how you brought those memories back with this wonderful creation.

The low contrast works so well here, creating a dramatic, ominous mood. Awesome shot!

Looks like it's straight from a 1950's sci-fi flick, very cool!

I like this - I can't see if it's dropped on, models, or real - which is always the best possible combination !

Well done - Most effective. Personally, I would love to have seen it in colour, but who's picky, then!

I like this photo with the towers as space ships. I think I would have liked to see it a little brighter. It is hard to see all the great details of the photo when it is dark.

Very believable image. Kind of reminds me of the harvest scene in the Matrix.

This one gets a high vote from me even though I am not resonating well with most of the "created artifacts" shots. There's a mood to this that's extremely well-accomplished. I like it very much.

Very fun idea, nicely put together, but a tad flat with the wheat and machines. I would have enjoyed a bit more separation between everything, touch more contrasty maybe, curves? hmmm yet, one of the better images in my opinion.

Haha, very nice. The image is a little dark overall but I like the simplicity of the subjects.

I would have liked this more if your flying machines were in focus (well at least one of them) and the gtrass was more out of focus. Nice textures in your sky though.
