Speaker cone and pin head. Reference is to the 80's pop song, 99 Luftballons by Nena, which was about bombs and doomsday.

Thanks everyone. I just noticed that this is my 4th ribbon with the Tamron SP AF 180mm lens. Gotta love a prime.

I remember the song, but that's the first I heard that is was about that. Shows how much I pay attention to lyrics. ...maybe I only heard the German version. Yeah, that must be it.

Oh, congrats on a great image and well deserved ribbon! :)

Actually it's not. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but "luftballon" in German simply means "balloon". When the song was translated into English the word red was added just so the flow of the song remained the same. Regardless, it's a protest song about bombs and doomsday during the cold war days.

an awesomely engaging image! something about the lines on the object is downright mesmerizing. A really cool composition, and some outstanding tones going on. Great shot!
my guess- 180 rotation of a shot of a soldering iron point with a falling drop of hot solder?

Wow now that is sweet. Really like this shot, I have no idea what the heck it is, but it is awesome. The only thing distracting to me is the blur at the bottom of the cone. Not sure why that is there, but it is a great shot non the less.

Cool. 99 luftbaloons? Nice shapes and golden/silver colour. I'm going to say what a lot of people have probabley said but the 'Ballon' would have looked better centered. But in saying that i'm sure that it wan't that easy, just to center it. so to speak. 7
