WOW... Absolutely stunning...
05/23/2007 04:53:16 PM
Beautiful - don't take the DQ too badly. Hope to see more soon...
05/23/2007 04:41:31 PM
OOPS!

Sorry, I hadnt read your comments. The smallness of the droplet will give such a round ball. I didn't appreciate how small it was.Just goes to show I should be more adventurous with my camera.I have a syringe - you have given me a shot in the arm to move on with my photography!
05/23/2007 04:37:07 PM
this is too bad, an exceptional image and your first challenge. Hang in there, watch your dates :0) and keep submitting, all of us want to see more of your photography

What a shame, but better luck next time!

I wonder if the drop is real - surely it can't be so perfect unless it is a glass ball, but even if it is, the idea is very nice - even the view through it is splendid.

I look forward to many more successes, and the time is right for you to have them - I have the same camera, but not such a knack for a brilliant image

Best of things for your future!
05/23/2007 04:32:21 PM
DARN!!! Your first challenge winning a blue ribbon and then having it taken away! I'm so sorry! But I agree with Juli. You will undoubtedly have many more ribbons in your collection. So sorry about this one. I had a ribbon photo dq's once too, so I know of the disappointment you are feeling :(

05/23/2007 04:29:57 PM
Oops. I have a date-based DQ myself because the camera's date was wrong. So I happily checked the box on the entry page knowing I took it during the correct dates.

It's a great shot, so enjoy the compliments, learn from the DQ, and keep entering! :)
05/23/2007 04:07:11 PM
Oh no! What a heartbreak, to have a blue ribbon taken away for a date violation. On the bright side -- if you can take beautiful photos like this, there will be many more ribbons on your profile page before long.
05/23/2007 03:52:39 PM
Congrats on your wonderful entry so sorry about the date mix-up. But is still Blue Ribbon worthy. :-)
05/23/2007 03:49:56 PM
I would love to know how you accomplished this DOF with an 18-55 3.5-5.6 lens, so I can learn how to do that. Sorry about the DQ. Great shot.
05/23/2007 03:24:53 PM
Never mind, I'm sure you will ribbon again!

So - Would you mind sharing your un-edited shot with us? Is that droplet on the petal of a gerbera or something?
05/23/2007 03:23:38 PM
So sorry to see this DQ but it is still a winner. :)
05/23/2007 03:15:51 PM
regardless of the DQ, I think we all look forward to seeing more of your images.. It's simply a stunning image !!!
05/23/2007 03:02:12 PM
Still a great shot....don't take it to heart :)

05/23/2007 03:01:45 PM
bummer!
05/23/2007 02:52:11 PM
shame about the DQ. But still a stunning photo!

05/23/2007 02:42:01 PM
Maybe an issue with understanding the language, sorry about the DQ, as a master of DQ I can only encourage you to carry on entering challenges and keep your chin up.
05/23/2007 02:29:36 PM
too bad... but still wonderful shot.. :D
05/23/2007 02:25:29 PM
This is terrible! I'm totally shocked about the DQ, especially because it's such a great image and because it was your first challenge. Did you forget to check the date on your camera?
05/23/2007 02:23:19 PM
Oh, what a shame. You must be terribly disappointed, but keep up the good work and you will recover!
05/23/2007 02:16:27 PM
man sorry to hear about the DQ. great shot either way!

Great shot with wonderful clarity and color. Did you use the kit lens in reverse for this one?
05/23/2007 10:57:23 AM
This shot is amazing and really sticks it to people who say you can't get a good shot with the Canon kit lens. :)

05/23/2007 07:15:54 AM

05/23/2007 06:38:44 AM
Absolutely awesome photo at any level of skill!!! WOW!
05/23/2007 06:29:44 AM
Thank you so much!!!I really don't thought that I can win!!! Yay!

Now, for everywhone, who think that it's marble, too round to be droplets, too edited or sth I announce that I'm takeing droplets phtos for one year and I know how to get round droplet, we need 2 things : flower with silky-smooth petal, and syringe with needle. The droplet must be very very small to be so round. I've send my proof - oryginal photo, hope you belive me :)

Thanks a lot for nice comments and so many votes !!!
05/23/2007 05:46:56 AM

Totally excellent shot. Congrats on the well deserved Blue.
05/23/2007 04:13:32 AM
What was used for the 'water'? It's too spherical to be water, IMHO. Love the shot though.
05/23/2007 03:51:09 AM
congratulations :) really good start

05/22/2007 06:56:08 PM
Beautiful!
05/22/2007 05:36:39 PM
Wow..
05/22/2007 02:55:48 PM
seems too perfectly round for basic editing but i may not know what i am talking about 10
05/22/2007 01:54:03 PM
Absolutely stunning! 10 from me. I need to try one of these at some point, they are so cool!!! You've captured the sphere perfectly. Tack sharp. The background blur and colors are outstanding. Wow! Did I mention I like this yet? :D I look forward to seeing this on the front page tomorrow morning.

BTW - If you're wondering why your score didn't move after this...I voted several days ago.
05/22/2007 12:35:51 PM
wow, it's quite fascinating how you managed to capture the droplet so round. beautiful. the dof is perfect.
05/22/2007 12:15:33 PM
Pretty much obligates a person to give a high score. Great technicals.
05/22/2007 06:36:48 AM
My top pick 10
05/21/2007 11:57:17 PM
Incredible shot! I don't know if it will win silky smooth, but I thoroughly enjoyed it... Wow!
05/21/2007 11:52:36 PM
Or maybe a marble, Like the photo but not sure if it is in the editing rules
05/21/2007 09:22:01 PM
The drop of water looks like it's own little world! I love the colors.
05/21/2007 04:33:20 PM
Lovely
05/20/2007 10:01:40 PM
Perfect. I would have been tempted to frame or crop differently. But this certainly does work well just the way it is. Probably better than offsetting that drop more.
05/20/2007 06:39:23 PM
Gorgeous, radiant colors here. The reflection in the droplet is amazing, and the crispness blows me away. 10 from me!
05/20/2007 04:03:09 PM
Very interesting and well done.
05/20/2007 11:55:44 AM
Very good focus on the marble. Good use of DOF.
05/20/2007 08:35:27 AM
oh my GOSH the drop is a perfect circle! amazing! beautiful reflection, I would have liked to have seen it cropped a little more on the right so that the droplet isn't right in the center
05/20/2007 02:21:52 AM
just stunning
05/20/2007 01:33:11 AM
thats kinda cool 7
05/20/2007 01:10:36 AM
Very very nice picture and original composition, made with great care and precision, lighting and colours are perfectly balanced and managed, sharpness is present just there where it is needed... A great picture, congratulations !!
In my T2.
05/19/2007 10:45:10 PM
Fantastic color and focusing perfection - 10
05/19/2007 01:37:57 PM
That water droplet is so perfect I'm inclined to say it's fake. If it's fake then the photo isn't all that great, because it's the water drop that's making the photo. If it's real there's a wow factor. I'm torn. I know I should assume it's real and vote accordingly. Hmmmmmmmmm...
05/19/2007 06:16:10 AM
good image, I think that a better crop may be possible with the ball on the intersection of the thirds rule lines. 8
05/18/2007 10:54:07 PM
The color, DOF and the reflection of the flower in the water make this photo a perfect 10.
05/18/2007 10:50:12 PM
Great color and composition.
05/18/2007 09:45:27 PM
This is be far IMO the best shot in this challenge the color the clairity and the refelection in the drop fantastic
05/18/2007 06:06:26 PM
wow! well done! such vibrant color i the petals and perfection in that droplet. very nice.
05/18/2007 05:54:10 PM
Perfect image. A 10 from me.
05/18/2007 12:01:19 PM

05/18/2007 11:24:23 AM
Beautiful. Very intricate in detail.
05/18/2007 09:57:51 AM
i like the vibrent color of the flower nice image
05/18/2007 08:43:53 AM
Nice capture - is it a glass marble?
05/18/2007 04:52:58 AM
Beautiful shot. Perfect color and DOF - must be worth an 8...
05/17/2007 07:59:47 PM

05/17/2007 10:30:14 AM

05/16/2007 05:18:49 PM
I would love to know how you achieved the perfect sphere without the droplet collapsing. Great focus. Great DOF.
05/16/2007 02:57:33 PM
Exellent! Good luck! Whish it in the top 5!
05/16/2007 02:29:09 PM
This picture is absolutely awesome!! At first I thought that was a marble.. then i realized it was a droplet. Stunning!!! The color inside the droplet is AMAZING!! GREAT JOB!!!
05/16/2007 01:55:46 PM
wonderfull shot! how did you make that drop so spheric??
05/16/2007 10:59:49 AM
Nice and smooth, just like a silk. Beautiful.
05/16/2007 10:02:21 AM
oh, wow! superb focus and lovely colour...best one so far. my only neg is the damaged petal, but you can't help that...9
05/16/2007 09:42:54 AM
Wow! Brilliant.

My only suggestion would be to crop a little off the right and the top to move the drop further off-centre.

8.
05/16/2007 08:21:43 AM
Absolutely stunning!!!!
05/16/2007 07:12:38 AM

What and awesome shot.
05/16/2007 12:57:54 AM
What a great shot. Beautiful composition, colors, and dof. It all works so nicely together. My only adjust ment would to move the droplet down about a cenimeter. Picky, I know.
05/16/2007 12:39:32 AM
jaw-dropping!!! i usually hate predicting winners, but damn, this one might be it!! 10
