Introducing, the world famous, Dakota Plain Layzees...!

This is my first ever competition shot and was more of an experiment than anything else. My theme here was to portray a 'serious' band who want the music to speak louder than the hype (cos thats cheaper :), hence the small 'no frills' name and the large (and hopefully quality) guitar shot.

I experimented with the depth of field and got the result above. editing was done in Adobe elements.

Not sure what elese to say...! Hope ya like it. :)

This is my favorite band. These guys are geniuses. Instead of worrying about what instrumentation and arrangement goes for what song, they just grab whatever is lying near them at the time. In "Tennessee Lawnporn" Mitch is playing a cheesegrater. Somehow, they always made it work. Someone did start the recorder, didn't they? Okay, then, we'll just call it a rehearsal.

Great pic! Only thing that might have made the shot better for me would have been a bit of shadow. DOF is awesome.

Funky name and GREAT image! Sounds like a funky blues/jazz band, I see a smoky room, funky beats, and lots of girls dancing :-)

The only non-square composition to get a high vote from me. Shoulda' been square, but I love the photo. Good choice of font, too.

Excellent picture - simple yet very striking!!

PS: Particularly like the format. I like the view you've taken that by making it just slightly larger than the standard album cover it will really stand out of the buyers collection :)

Seriously though - brilliant work!!

Great perspective shot, and like the understated font. Another one that could pass for "real".

Nice photo - love the unusual viewpoint, the shallow DOF and the way it's floating within the frame.

Wow! Great perspective! just right on the DOP too! I like how the text is big enough to be noticed, but not over-powering the photo! Great job!

Great shot and dof. I think ti would looks amazing as a square crop if you cut off the empty space on the edges.

Very nice DOF and lighting. The test is a little too close the one of the strings. Otherwise, I like the use of space here - just the right amount used by the guitar.

I love it, but a square crop would have help a lot.

Why didn't you make this square? The DOF is excellent, as is the clarity. But an album is square!

Would have worked a little more on the contrast here

would have been great as a square crop, but I love this and think it should do well, so all the best 9
