Just a plant, but a plant nicely composed in the frame. Great range of tones, really captures the texture of the leaves very well.

Wow, I love the details & textures you can see in these leaves. Very sharp focus and the details really pop off the page...I don't know what aperture & shutter speed you used but if you use a higher aperture & slower shutter speed you could get the leave in the foreground to be in as sharp detail as the other two (although that would also increase the DOF and probably eliminate or lessen the bokeh effect such that the leaves don't pop off there background environment as much).

Don't you just hate it when you ar looking so hard for something to shoot and you can't find anything good you end up tripping on a rock and hitting the shutter to capture a "Appena una pianta"???

Also wish the front was in focus. Macro shot? Always tough. Otherwise perfectly sharpened and I like the processing quite a bit.

Great wonderful textures, detail, and great lighting. Wish the front leaf was in focus, but a minor thing to an excellent photograph.

you are so good can I just sit at your feet and learn from a master? I see you are teaching a photoshop class, I didn't get in in time so I have been lurking.

But it's a nice plant that looks quite lovely in B&W. Great texture. I want it rotated EVER so slightly to the right, though. Actually, the plant to the left, the frame to the right. Or not, since it sounds so complicated. (Thanks for the note on the frames, too.)

HEE HEE - I really like it. Great bokeh. I do stuff like this all the time. My neighbors just shake there heads "there she is with her lens shoved into a bush again." ROFL You know what I love? That tiny little sprig of grass in the lower right.

Well it was just a plant, UNTIL you made it famous - now it will need an agent - GRIN!

I like the framing and the high contrast really bringing out the detail in the leaves. The lighting here is fantastic. If I could change anything I would like a bit better dof on the leaves, the lowest is somewhat distracting since it's blurred. The background between the upper and R leaf is also somewhat distracting and would would be better if it were simpler and a bit darker. Finally the small blade of grass in the LL corner is somewhat intrusive (imo of course). Overall nice job,

Jack

It is much more than just a plant.
This is a really wonderful black and white image here Ken.
Super focus, great detail and textures with the leaves, and magical DOF in the background.....
In all a very special image here to be proud of.

Maybe 'just' a plant but certainly more than 'just' a photo. Love the focus and depth on the middle leaf and the light is perfection.

My guess is that this is part of what makes a great photographer, everyone has access to be able to take a shot of leaves, but not everyone could make it as visually appealing as this
