Taken in my backgarden, very much alive and running around ;) No, not a composite, and he was on the horizontal when I captured him. He sensibly chose the yellow pansiesfor his portrait :)

Especially after reading your comments that this is a live ladybug I give you huge kudos! I loved this photo from the beginning and thought it would score higher. I love the simple red and yellow colors and the detail is fantastic.

Love the contrasting red and yellow tones as well as the overall composition - especially the leading line from the upper left to the lower right. I suspect the ladybug was placed in the image post edit, but unfortunately the composite image isn't entirely realistic - perhaps some very subtle drop shadows under the ends of the legs?

Like the colors and the DOF, leaving the subject almost wholly in focus.

Good thought put into the composition of this, as the leaf leads upto the ladybird, while it's looking back into the photo.
However, while due to the title i'm sure your trying to emphasise the colours of the shot, i do think it's over saturated.

The PP is very nice here. Great shot. I had thought about doing a ladybug macro for an upcoming challenge, but I think I'll wait a bit after this one... ;) 9

When I take a long look, the leg position makes me wonder if this isn't shot "down" meaning the bug is really on its side compared to the ground. Expert editing also makes you wonder if its a composite, but I sense not.

Wonderful clarity and colours. White spot might be a tad bright.

Ummm...appears to be dead? The positioning of the legs gives that impression anyway. Nice complimentary colors in this. Good luck.
