I gave yours my highest vote. I simply loved your picture, I am rather sad that your picture rated so low, it such wonderful picture which I think should have rated much higher.

For the few of you that were curious, the effect here was to rotate the beachball a 1/2 turn during the exposure, using a strobe light to produce discrete wedges of color rather than a blur. The beachball had 6 sections: red, white, blue, while, yellow, white. Since those are primary colors, I got quite a colorful shot.

In fact, beachballs as I remember them from my childhood were very colorful.

This is some interesting effects you tried here, but I don't know as if it apeals to me. the lighting is good for the effect used. The angle is ok, might have a more visual impact if the middle of the ball were centered in the photo. Colors are very nice, and reference to childhood is very strong. Good luck in the challenge.

Wonderful! The lighting is so other-worldly: soft, glowing, beautiful colours. Love the soft lines of overlap and the central "sun" (though would like to see it better centred in frame).
Very noisy photo and background not very even.

I like the colours but I find it too centered. Have you tried cropping it ?

too abstract to be identified as a beachball and relate it to the topic

I don't know if this has anything to do with the topic but I love this shot.

This looks like a Chinese lantern, not a beach ball.

Okay, lots of questions here. 1) Is the blur intentional? The fact that it is such a dramatic blur says to me that it must be, but I don't see what it accomplishes. If it is supposed to capture the motion, I find it unsuccesssful due to the angle. 2) What are the speckles? Is this camera noise due to the blur? Perhaps it's sand -- to further the beach theme. If the latter, I think it's not obvious enough and therefore detracts from the photo. 3) Not a question, but I would like the blacks to be blacker. I gave this a one because to me it is a very poor photo. I wanted to say please take no offense, but that's an unrealistic expectation. I hope that my comments have lent some explanation to my score. 1, just-married

Interesting shot, but I'd have no idea what it was except for the title. 6.

The coloring effect is nice, but for the rest can't make anything of this picture.

This is an interesting image... the motion on the ball is nice, but it makes it a bit difficult to determine what it is without the title. Without the title, the image will have a difficult time relaying a sense of 'childhood' to the viewers. - jmsetzler

I take your word for it that this is a beach ball. The image is so blurred that I cannot recognize anything. Perhaps the blurring was deliberate and I do like that in part of an image but not that predominantly blurred. Mind you, I'm merely reflecting my own opinion and taste. Journey

I can't really tell what this is. It has a cool hypnotising look to it though.
