i really like the crop on this one, as well as the colors, the flame is a tad bit blown out but all in all a very nice shot

I like the idea and the colors but I think the composition is not very good. The mate reduce too much the impact of the cookie and the candle. 5

Nice close crop, wonderful colours. Is the knot in the pine table which is positioned at the top right corner intentionally included?

This is a great shot. Composition is first class – and mouth watering… Lighting works, and the candle is a nice touch… The only flaw – and it's tiny – relates to the reflected glare in the plate. Bounced flash might have gotten rid of that. Good luck (8)

I didn't think I would like a cake / birthday shot but I was wrong. I like this photo. I would prefer none of the table visible, as well as the glare / reflection off the plate at the bottom. What if you tried this in the dark, allowing the candle flame to illuminate the plate? Have you tried it before? Good job.

Good lighting and DOF. The only thing that I don't like about the composition is the table at the upper and lower right hand corners. I find that to be just a little distracting. lhall

I understand why you used the fancy plate, but I find it makes the picture a bit cluttered.

Nice vibrant colours. Nice candleshot, just in the picture frame. Making it a good picture!

Yum. I like the bright colors on this. my only suggestion would be to move the cookie down a little so that the candle doesn't touch the top edge. karmat

A nice colorful photo... it would appeal to me as depicting childhood even without the candle, although it wouldn't have fit the name. And... don't use the name of the challenge in the title, no way, no part, no how!

Simple, good honest, bright childhood. I like the bright colors and smiley face, and the tilted candle flame keeps the eye moving in a circle, which emphasizes the ice cream bar.
