My wife got a new Sunbeam mixer and I realized how robotic it looked, kind of like an evil robot. From that, I thought about evil kitchen lighting (i.e. my stove) and went from there.

The hardest part was getting the plug/mouth to stay put. I ended up taping the cord behind the mixer and using a thread to hold the end up.

I'm hoping this will do well, at least a 6.0. I didn't quite get it right (slightly out of focus, little too red, not nearly enough light on the mixer even though I tried to dodge and burn it as well as I could).

Special thanks to my wife who released the shutter while I was holding white paper 'reflectors' over the mixer to get a little more light on top of it. I can only hope I haven't hurt my lens by getting it a little too warm.

Greetings from the Critique Club. First let me start by saying that you did a great job meeting the challenge. Kitchenware is certainly represented here. Some things I like, I like the fact that you took a chance at going against the "norm" and used a tilted horizon I like the fact that its tilted and it makes the shot more then a simple snapshot. The creative lighting method helps this as well. I'm not 100% sure that the White balance is accurate, however what "temp"(pun intended) is that scene anyway. I also think that you back focused a week bit. The focus seems to be behind blender just a touch and makes it soft. Over all it scored about where I thought it would had I voted and you did very well. Good luck in future challenges.

Clever and creative. Not sure the tilted perspective really adds that much though.

A fantastic idea and the execution perfect, IMO. I have voted 100% and this is my top = 10

Really nice idea and well executed.

Fun idea, I would have liked to seen some kind of additional Hollywood style lighting on the Mixer, like a nice dramatic strip of light across the "eyes".

hehehehe, nice. very cool idea. i'd have wanted it to be set up a bit differently though, so that the background is just black. if you could have turned the whole thing around 90 degrees so that the stovetop controls weren't visible, that would bring out the mixer more, i think. i'm giving it a 7/10.
