Is this part of a costume? It's a very striking photo and I want to rate it high, but I don't think you gave quite enough information to link it to childhood. It definitely reminds me of all the costumes I had to wear in school plays and for my ballet classes, etc., as a kid! So I feel satisfied in that respect.

I don't see how this fits into the "childhood" catagory...however, this is a very cool picture...
08/31/2002 02:36:00 PM
I don't know what this is but it looks really neat. 7.
08/30/2002 07:06:00 PM
I like this image, even if I don't understand it at all. What am I looking at and what does it have to do with childhood? Could this be part of a glass sculpture? If I weren't in such a good "it's friday before a three day weekend" mood, I'd be tempted to lower your score, but what the heck. 8 Swash

can't tell what i'm looking at

Fascinating colours and lighting. A really interesting shot. But not for this challenge. Connection to the challenge is too hard to fathom, even with the title. 9 in another challenge. 8 today. - floyd

The only reason I gave this a low score was because I didn't see how a fish's tail related to childhood. Othwise, very pretty.
08/29/2002 03:24:00 PM
wow... I don't think this fits the challenge at all... you can pm me and explain... but I LOVE this picture. abstract. I love the colors and the lines. Excellent work.

Good macro IMHO. But not good subject links, only through the title
08/29/2002 01:36:00 AM
Sorry, don't get it.

This is a beautiful shot, and I am assuming that you had some kind of connection to childhood in mind, but I don't see any relevance to childhood. lhall

Hmm...I don't get it. kathleenm

very nice. love the color and the composition. great creative shot. 8
08/28/2002 11:38:00 AM
Great shot ...great composition..is this a fish eyes view or a submerged swimmer?
08/28/2002 03:30:00 AM
This is a wonderful shot... I normally am not a big fan of abstract, but I'm learning to like it and this I like A LOT! One small issue... For the life of me, I can't make the connection between this and Childhood... I'll revisit it a few times and see if it comes to me... Please feel free to PM me if I'm missing the obvious ~ myqyl

Pretty colors but I don't really understand....

beautiful picture....off the topic
08/27/2002 09:43:00 PM
Cool picture!! how does it fit the topic again?

It's absolutely georgeous, but week on the challenge. 7

I am not really sure what i'm looking at. your title is Fish Tale. So I am thinking that i'm looking at an actual photo of a Fish Tail. Since you spelled Tale so mean "a story" I am thinking that maybe there is a story behind the tail? To be honest, without the title, I would have no clue at all what this was. Setting that aside, the relationship to childhood is that you fished when you were young?? Anyway, the photo is really pretty, I assume there was some color editing going on. I like how it fills the frame, and the lighting appears to be good. There is a white blemish over to the right just under half way up that is a bit distracting. Interesting photo. Good luck in the challenge.

this is great shot. very rich and lots of texture. (7) ~mcmurma

UPDATE: Darn it! I have changed this back and forth between a nine and a ten 3 times this week. Ultimately I have decided that since I always have taken off at least one point for not meeting the challenge it would be hypocritical of me not to do so here. So, a nine it is and I refuse to let myself touch this comment area again. I LOVE the picture though. 9, just-married

ORIGINAL:
Damn I love this shot. Why couldn't the challenge have been sea life or such?! So, I'm making a stretch and pretending that you meant this to be a mermaid so that I can justify in my mind not taking off points for missing the challenge. Every little girl fantasizes about mermaids after all. GORGEOUS color. nice texture, detail, lighting. I can't believe I'm giving you a 10 for something that doesn't meet the challenge, but there it is. (I promise to be mad at you for this later. LOL) 10, just-married

I'm not sure how this relates to the challenge, other than the fact that kids go fishing from time to time. Is this a fish tail? If so, it's a nice macro, but it doesn't envoke feelings of childhood memories to me...
08/26/2002 09:50:00 PM
What the HECK does this have to do with CHILDHOOD WITHOUT CHILDREN! It's a very pretty and colorful 'abstract', but IMHO does NOT meet this challenge.
08/26/2002 09:39:00 PM
How is childhood portrayed in this photograph?
08/26/2002 09:03:00 PM
this is a good "what is it?" photo, so what the hell is it????
08/26/2002 08:35:00 PM
This is a very beautiful picture. Is it a real fish? Looks too perfect to be. Nice literal translation of the challenge.
08/26/2002 08:19:00 PM
Beautiful photo
08/26/2002 02:53:00 PM
This is strange.....I guess because it's unexpected. Still I like it, tad bit dark. Score 6 Justine
08/26/2002 12:44:00 PM
Nice photo, but apparently I am missing something....
08/26/2002 12:27:00 PM
Beautiful colour and texture - just don't know what I am looking at. I'd guess the body of a fish going into the tail? But don't get the concept. Lovely shot though.

This is a neat photo from the abstract side of things... without the title, I don't believe I would be able to determine what I am looking at... That being said, I am still unsure how this photo relays a sense of 'childhood'... - jmsetzler
08/26/2002 09:14:00 AM
I'm sure there is a strong connexion with childhood but it's too convoluted for me. I like the shot though !
08/26/2002 02:44:00 AM
I am a little lost here. Okay, kids go fishing but so do adults, don't they? I am not marking you down for not meeting the challenge but I just don't know why I am looking at this. The image is all rigt, very blurred though. 5 Journey
