 Young male lion. Entered him in challenges before - he wasn't well received then and don't expect he will be now. He's actually very beautiful and I love watching him. Not much editing, especially for an expert challenge but I didn't feel much was necessary.

Thank you everyone for voting. Didn't think this would do as well as it did.

My steps:
crop,sharpen,levels,curves
lots of mask layers with various gaussian blurs and sharpening
more mask layers used with screen and multiply for highlights (eyes) and shadows (vignette)

Courtenay, this is one of the most beautiful animal photos I have ever seen. I'm so glad it was better received this time! I would have been so disappointed if this one wasn't on the front page. If it were up to me, it would have a ribbon under it right now, but I'm glad at least it made the top 10 in an amazingly competitive challenge!

I like how the fur is smooth and ethereal looking while still maintaining very nice detail. Great tones as well. Nicely done!

Love this shot! I love the sharpness in the middle of the pic and the softness around the edges. The vignetting is nice. It really focuses the eye on the face. 9

Wow! I can't think of any way to make this shot better. Focus is dead on, colors are vivid, composition "looks right", it's all there.

Ooooooooh . . ..DEFINITELY my favorite in this challenge, and a new favorite in my fav's! What gorgeous, dreamy processing of a fabulous animal! From what I've seen, if this doesn't win a ribbon, then you got seriously robbed! I wish I could give it two 10's!
