Aren't these girls cute? I went to this park where I used to eat lunch every day. They were sitting there just dangling their feet in the water, and they looked so pretty! And the older girl (Sela) was being so sweet to her little sister (Maggie).

I asked them if they minded if I took their picture, and they giggled but were so flattered. Their mom was standing by and didn't speak English, but was smiling and noddig like she approved. Sela assured me that it was okay. They seemed to really enjoy being photographed, so I spent quite a bit of time with them, and I let them pick the picture that they liked best to show y'all today.

By the time I left, I felt like these were girls from my church or something that were real friends -- close to my heart -- who I would surely see again.

Every once in a while, you really get lucky with the candid thing. This is one of my favorite pictures ever :)

Oh, and thanks for humoring me about big borders. Sorry, but for the web, I love them. I think they give you an idea what a photo would look like actually framed. I love 30-day things where you can do what you like without worrying about getting your picture trashed :) I'd never be that dumb to use one in a challenge tho :)

Lovely choice of tint to accentuate these beauties. You have a good eye and the framing and moment has enhanced their innocent loveliness.

Great picture!! I envy you cause I also have some problems at asking to take a picture of someone I don't know. This came out wonderful.

I love your PP you did very very well, love the background, and the frame ;)

Great composition & the lighting is perfect! I do agree with you with the borders, definitely gives it a feel of it being in a frame. Their eyes are so nice & bright! You really managed to capture their real smiles too, not the fake "I'm smiling because you asked me to", great job!!

An absolutely gorgeous portrait Sandy, you really out did yourself with this. The odds might be slim to none...but have you thought about printing this to carry with you in hopes of giving it to the mother if you run into her again. Something like this would be quite the treasure, just a guess but real portraits may be outside of their means.

I can't help but smile with this one!

WOW Sandy, this is just AMAZING and IMO one of your best
photos. Everything in this image is flawless, so good composed,
but yet so natural, spontaneous , the expression on their faces is priceless. The sephia tones are just perfect and the clarity is excellent.
You have such a talent, and something that is IMO most important
in photography, you have an "EYE", you are so good in catching the
perfect moment.

Adding to my favorites!!

Beautiful, Sandy! What incredible focus and perfect DOF! The reflection in the water is great. I really like how the background enhances the portrait and how some of the elements serve to frame those cute girls. I hope that you keep posting candids and other shots of people whom you've just met. It's inspiring me to be brave and to get out of my comfort zone. Thanks!
