I will stop using the opera house... one day :)

photo taken at 12mm for background separation and heavily cropped as using a longer lens would bring the opera house a lot closer and ruin the effect

WOW!

Beautiful photograph on it's own, never mind a brilliant use of B&W. Great contrast, nice mild sepia feel to it. The crisp lines juxtaposed with the smooth reflections. Blue ribbon well deserved!

First, I think this is a fantastic shot. Great story with the photo and very technically well executed and composed.

If you get a chance, you may try to frame it from a higher vantage to get the water line at the top 3rd instead of the bottom. I think that shot would have a bit more impact and put the opera house on a higher plane.

Definately a winner in my book, and so worth the "Blue Ribbon".....
You are a "Master" in my eyes, re images of our famous "Opera House", especially colortoned like this, with the old sailing ship alongside.
Well done buddy, and we are so very proud of you.....
Thank you also for sharing your location, and some of you photographic secrets..... You are "TOPS" in my book.....

Nice juxtaposition of old/new, good choice to have the ship in the foreground seemingly heading for the shore. To be really picky, I'd say I'd like to see more detail in the shadows of the ship, and maybe have a sharper focus on the ship too, but really I think this is overall a great composition and the best of the bunch.
