 My entry for "Pop culture" is not scoring as well as I'd like for my WPL team so I needed to submit a "Still" or "Spinning" image to make up for it.

This morning we Icelanders were blessed first with snow and later still and sunny weather (a rarity in Iceland). I've seen this picture in my head for years since the house (named Straumur) and the pond can be seen from the highway between Reykjavik and the airport. The shot came out is almost exactly like I planned :-) so I'm very happy with it. Hope you DPCers like it too.

The light was very good so there was not much need for post processing. Just small dozes of USM, curves and color balance and shadow/highlight in Photoshop.

Indeed, weather like this is truly rare in Iceland. Ragga has one from the same place and at the time, I thought that seemed pretty still.
But it is not enough to be lucky with the weather, you have to be good with the camera too. And you are. This is truly a wonderful image and a worthy ribbon. Congrats. Wish you well in the WPL-final.

Love the reflection, the colors, and the stillness. I can feel the crisp cool breeze coming in through the open window as I take an afternoon nap in one of the upstairs bedrooms.

I like the broad view of the sky in this shot - it emphasizes vastness, which helps with conveying the overall stillness of the composition.
