Ok, yes another water shot! :-) I've been having fun with water lately.

Shot in my sink with black BG. Use flash but about 2 ft away to remove glare.

GS, RBG, levels, crop, resize, NI.

I wonder if this water shot will bring me as much luck as my Spike! ;-)

I would like to thank DPC for giving me the opportunity to let my imagination run free. Without DPC I wouldn't be the photogrpaher that I am today.

I would like to thank my girlfriend for being sooooooooooo patient with me (and often being my model) and understanding my passion for this wonderful art.

I would like to thank my mom and my dad for bringing me into this world.

But most of all.... thank you to all the DPCers for voting my shot into glory!!!! *tear comes to his eye*

Go team Coolpix 4500!!!!!!!!! Wait a minute... I might be the only one!!!! ;-)

Woohoo Yanik, you got that long overdue bluey! Congrats.

Yanik,

Congratulations on a well deserved blue.

This was my favorite of the challenge and I am only sorry I did not say so prior to the end of voting. It is simply a very striking image. This and your other accumulated works at DPC are fantastic.

On a personal level, I think that this is a little deep for the current challenge, but I don't know where you are from or what your culture does for this holiday if anything... I can't fault the image too much though. You have a couple of spots in the bakground above the right hand thumb. You managed to light it up nicely without getting hardly any overexposure (KUDOS for that alone. I'm trying to get through my lighting issues.) Cropping is a little tight (is this straight out of camera?) Your focus is damn near perfect without being over sharp and I LOVE your choice of a sepia style here. Nice! Gotta be top 5.

Very nice photo, clarity is superb! 9
12/04/2003 04:58:28 PM
love the drops of water and the thought.
12/04/2003 01:04:16 PM
This one is bound to be up there - lovely tones, clear water and frozen time - well done all round - 9

I really like this picture. The color and motion in it are perfect. I really don't have any thing to 'add' so to say. You nailed this one
12/04/2003 12:14:58 AM
I love the detail present in this photograph, with even the ripples seeming frozen despite the obvious, inherent motion.
12/03/2003 09:42:45 PM
What a beautiful capture...very well done! Got to be a ribbon.
12/03/2003 12:40:30 PM
My first thought was that this had been neatimaged, or similar - there seems to be areas of very smooth smudges. I like the water in the hand, and a few of the waterdrops are nicely captured. Not sure about the sepia tone for this, though - it almost seems an unnatural coloring for the skin tone of the hands. Composition is ok, and the lighting/exposure is good.

This is a wonderful picture.. Very clear and, well. I'm speechless on it.
12/01/2003 09:23:54 AM
Nice interpretation. Great dof and shading,
11/30/2003 08:26:20 PM
The composition, tones and water capture is fantastic. I think it would work better with the hands being softer (less skin detail) as might have been "legally" accomplished using NeatImage.

The water is very wet in this image. Good capture. Good composition. It works perfectly. I give you a 9.
11/30/2003 09:02:32 AM
The detail in this picture is perfect, right down to the manicured nails!! Beautiful.
11/29/2003 08:56:00 PM
such clear water, the ripple makes it so much more interesting than would just a plain puddle, fingernails slightly distracted me...just slightly.....:-D
11/29/2003 08:40:05 PM
Stunning. I love the way you've caught the water splash but using hands rather than an inanimate object. Great choice of sepia as well.
11/29/2003 06:59:47 PM
Nice, I just love this one, very well done.
11/29/2003 12:58:03 PM
Fun shot. Lighting is nice--perhaps just a tad harsh. I love the light bouncing around in the water in the hand.
11/29/2003 12:31:40 PM
I dont much like the sepia colour, or the loss of detail from neatimage, but its a great capture, 8
11/29/2003 11:19:45 AM
Bad Points: Hate the color, real shame.
Good Points: Superb texture on the hands, composition well done for such a split second shot.
Overall Score: 5 (a 9 if it wasn't yellow)

I like the concept, but, to me, the 'water drops' look more like glycerine or something they bead up more than water would
11/29/2003 09:57:16 AM
This is great closeup of water splash. I just don't like the sepia cast in this case. It doesn't look healthy.
11/29/2003 05:06:14 AM
Excellent image. Really no idea how you can improve on this photograph. Great job.
11/29/2003 04:46:47 AM
WOW! That is a wonderful photo! So clear and crisp, though so soft to the eye... I just love it. Good luck with it. I hope will be a ribbon!
11/29/2003 03:56:39 AM
How strange that three of us thought the same thing!

Nice hands, good capture, and an aesthetic composition. I do find the peripheral beads of water didtracting though and it would probably have made the shot look cleaner with only the water in the pool. Lighting is a little flat, but you've done well considering.

Wow beautiful hands, and fantastic focus and light......too good. 10 from me.
11/29/2003 12:36:47 AM
Nice shot, good capture an 8
11/29/2003 12:32:10 AM
wow. is that really water? almost seems like the stuff in the middle must be a jelly.. but maybe i just have bad 'water-cupping' technique.. it just drips out of my hands. great composition and lighting.
