nice dof; like the b&w.

Excellent composition on this photograph. Does this make me a "swing voter?"

Excellent Composition... Interesting that you made it B&W... look at the similar shots in this challenge... maybe the contrast between mulch and swings would have been interesting? Doesn't affect my score that there are others like yours in the challenge....

Nice angle/perspective. Good contrast.

Nice perspective - this works well in B/W - I imagine some of the items further in the background could be much more distracting in colour - in B/W they are unobtrusive.
Nice strong light and shadows.

this is a nice composition and is one of my favorite swing pics. i like the black and white as well, but the groundcover looks a bit harsh. (6) ~mcmurma

I like the shadows in this. I have to wonder why you went with black and white. However, I like it. Maybe I would like to see a comparrison of the color to the black and white, just to see, but I think it works well here. You have a very nice angle on the swings. I like the benches in the back. Great job and good luck in the challenge.

Beautiful composition, and use of black and white. By far, my favorite swing photograph this week -- excellent! 9 LanSnake

this is a very nice shot, and definitely one of the better composed "swing" shots in the challenge. one of the things i've noticed missing from all of them is a sense of action. i know the challenge didn't allow any children in the shots, but even if one of these swings was held out a bit on an angle to show that it was in use sometime recently, it might add a lot more feeling to the image. all of the swing images being so static almost seems like one of those kidnapping prevention posters or something. they seem so desolate and depressing. but technically, this was very well done, and i dig the use of black and white. good job (and sorry to single yours out for expressing my feelings about the swing shots, i just feel this one probably could have really benefited from some action.)

Loved the B&W, repeating subject, very nostalgic and good link to the topic

one of my favorite swing shots! great compositon, textures, and use of b&w. the title isn't quite fitting as the swings don't exactly look thrilling at the moment :P 8 Lisa

One of the better swing pictures this challenge....
08/27/2002 07:27:00 PM
I like the title, the angle, the use of black and white.
08/27/2002 03:25:00 PM
I can see the idea 'and then we went to the park where you had the swings'. Still the picture is lacking that something extra to make it a winner in my eye.
08/27/2002 06:57:00 AM
This would have been appropriate for the subject were it not for your title, which makes me give it another conotation all together. But it is a nice clear photo.

The b&w is actually what makes this photo appeal to me. I don't think I would have liked it nearly as much in color. I like the composition and the light / shadows in the shot. lhall

Is this another repeat?
08/26/2002 08:55:00 PM
I like the way the swings send me straight up the middle of the photo. 7.

The resolution isn't good enough.
08/26/2002 08:11:00 PM
Nice choice of B&W. I like the sharpness of the ground. Maybe a little more blur in the distance would have drew me in more. Just personal pref. Good job.
08/26/2002 06:02:00 PM
looks like you used the sharpening tool a little too much
08/26/2002 03:27:00 PM
good composition. bw gives this a feeling of nostalgia, i think. karmat

Striking point of view. I like it!
08/26/2002 01:23:00 PM
Very nice...might be slightly improved if the closest swing wasn't clipped off.
08/26/2002 11:42:00 AM
Swings must be very popular for this topic

Great perspective and richness. my favorite 'swing' picture in this challenge.
