St Pauls. I have always loved this shot since Imagineer & Alexsaberi pulled it off so well, just always loved the perspective so decided to have a go myself. This time with a slightly tone-mapped flavour.

- POST CHALLENGE -

Outtake -

Colour version

OK, I am officially stunned that this came first, I never expected a score of 7.1 to clean up on a freestudy challenge, lets face it, who would? At one point I looked through last months scores and it looked like it could of scrapped top ten, which is what I expected.. Ah well.

Thanks for all the votes and nice comment, I know this angle and perspective is getting a bit old hat these days.

Processing.

I cant actually remember as I did this on the 6th March so its like almost a month ago. But I think I did..

Initial exposures/white balance in Lightroom.
Export to TIF. Light tonemapping, converted to BW using Image Factories converter, cropped, removed a metal "patch" on one of the struts, basically it just stood out a mile in BW, so I smoothed the metal a bit. Removed a tiny annoying black cloud at the very top of the crop as it was quite distracting. saved as jpg. There may of also been a slight dodge/burn, but cant really remember. Gotta make notes in future.

Wow, this is amazing, B&W tones are so good, almost metalic feel to it. I'm really wondering how did you do it?!
Going to my favorites.

Mark, they should call you BLUE RIBBON BOY...congrats on another blue. I live the panoramic outtake, but don't think it would have done as well with the voters. Your b and w edit here is second to none.

Fantastic shot, the B&W and tone mapping make this a fresh and very moody take on the facinating millenium bridge and St Pauls. Great to see a fellow Essex resident with a blue ribbon as well. Great work

very LOVELY, futuristic looking image of a timeless subject. I'd love to visit there someday, and your image just makes me want to go there even more. Not sure if I like the BW or colour version best, they are BOTH terrific. congrats

Right then, joke's on me as I now have to plough through 564 images and bump them all (yes, all of them) up. There'll be a third run through for fine tuning. It's day two three now and I'm running late, sorry.

New take on what's rapidly becoming an old motive. Great with the monochrome bringing out the textures. Architectonic contrast, clouds . . . has to be 8

Great leading lines, nice "finish" to the whole image - I'd call it chrome. :) I could stare at this all night. It makes me think of silent movies.
